Athlete Testimonials

Jenn- I "stumbled" into running in 2008 without any athletic experience beyond the gym. I became happy with my race performance over time from putting in the appropriate mileage, eating right and strength training. But I struggled with breaking through my current threshold, associating it with the aging process. Then I met Coach Chels at the 2018 Mohawk Hudson Marathon...more like IN the marathon, as we fell into step midway and finished the second half together right to the finish. Passing time along the way, Chelsea told me about launching her coaching service, what it would involve and WHY she wanted to assist other runners to be their best self.
In the spring of 2019, Chelsea asked me to identify a goal which was to beat my best marathon time at my tenth career marathon in NYC, my sixth time running the course. I worked my custom plan over the summer in a new way, running hill drills and speed segments for the first time. Running workouts within weekend long runs for the first time. Along the way, I completed my 50th half marathon in September, with Chelsea ahead of me on the course and cheering for me at the end.
Come November 2019 I was ready, and nervous at the same time that I wouldn't hit my "under 5" time goal. NYCM is no joke with lots of hard asphalt on its five bridges and its long trek to the start village hours before your start time. Weather conditions were perfectly cool, but there are always things that can trip up a race plan. Not so for me though: I trusted those training months and my plan for the day, beating both my NYCM time and my career performance at age 60.
Since then, I've run four more marathons and my half total stands at 61 for now. While others my age are slowing down in general, I am stronger and faster than ever thanks to a coach who continues to help me put my best feet forward.”

Sara-“I have been working with Chelsea since 2018 when I started training for my first half marathon. She is an amazing coach and friend! Chelsea is supportive and creates training plans that fit my schedule. She communicates regularly with weekly training plans and check ins. She is so positive and caring. I always feel prepared for my races, whether it is a 5K or a half marathon. Chelsea has helped me focus on my personal goals and made running an important part of my life.”

Lauren- “Running for me became a way to exercise when I was in college. It was affordable, I could do it on my own time, and hey, I liked it! I was never going to win races or qualify for Boston, but I loved it and it made my body and my mind feel its best. When I signed up for my first marathon after years of running, I began to take it TOO seriously. I created a seriously imbalanced relationship with running and training and soon, it was consuming my life in a very unhealthy way. I didn’t think I deserved this help but after my second marathon, I knew I did – enter Chelsea. We connected via social media and decided to meet up for breakfast and not only was she instantly warm, friendly and outgoing – she cared AND encouraged me that regardless of what my next plan was, that I deserved to run AND feel good about my body and my life again. I immediately asked to work with her and within months, everything changed! Chelsea has changed the way I think about running and training. While it was hard at first to make the changes, I now train aiming for heart rate-based paces and effort rather than forcing myself to fit a certain time goal – and it shows. I feel stronger than I’ve ever felt while running, have stayed healthy, and I’m running less days a week with even better results. Chelsea is always there to remind me that its okay to be flexible, that running should fit in my life (not the other way around) and that I can do it! I’ve ran very strong races while living a healthy, balanced life. Chelsea has truly changed my life and I am so grateful we have connected in a coach/athlete relationship but also as a wonderful supportive friend.”
